Christmas is on the way and many employers will be planning their annual year end “bash”. In addition, many businesses will be considering what gifts, if any, they will provide to clients and employees. However, an important issue to consider is the possible FBT and income tax implications of providing “entertainment” to staff and clients. One major consideration is the “less than $300″ minor benefit exemption and the fact that the Tax Office now accepts that different benefits provided at (or about) the same time are not added together when applying this threshold. Basically, this means that a Christmas party and gifts may be exempt from FBT, even if provided at the same time, as long as each costs less than $300!

| Smith Feutrill recently took part in The Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave. While we originally set our firm fundraising target at an ambitious $5,000, the generosity of our donors has been so fantastic that this figure grew to be in excess of $7,000. A big thank-you to our clients, friends and family who made these generous donations as part of our fundraising initiative. The Leukaemia Foundation provide free, practical support to patients during their long and tough treatment, as well as boosting research into better treatments and hopefully cures for blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Smith Feutrill are happy to support these very worthwhile causes, and thank you for your assistance in achieving this fantastic result. |
| We’re also happy to say that the colour is all gone and the hair has started to grow back, so you don’t need to be afraid of the “Smith Feutrill Thugs” when visiting our offices! Below are some happy snaps of our willing participants. |
